Directory of Common Resources

The case manager works very closely with a variety of campus offices to ensure that students are connected to appropriate resources, many of which are provided here.  You are strongly encouraged to personally connect students with these and other campus resources that might best serve each student’s needs.  Once connected or referred, please continue to benefit the student by submitting a referral online.

Academic Advising — 919.515.8130

Academic Advising Programs and Services (AAPS) provides Walk-in Advising in Holmes Hall for students who are exploring undergraduate majors at NC State. Cross-curricular advisors can help students evaluate potential majors, navigate the on-campus transfer process (CODA), and plan appropriate coursework as students transition between majors. No appointment is necessary.

Counseling Center — 919.515.2423

The Counseling Center provides counseling for NC State students experiencing personal, academic or vocational concerns. They offer psychological assessment and psychiatric consultation. Most services are free to currently enrolled students of NC State University.  The Counseling Center offers a number of group counseling experiences on issues related to students’ needs (all of which are also free and without limits on participation), in addition to time-limited individual counseling.  The center also provides workshops on a variety of topics related to stress management, healthy relationships, anger management, sexual assault awareness, self-esteem, time management, and many more.

Disability Resources Office — 919.515.7653

The Disability Resources Office (DRO) collaborates with students to determine reasonable accommodations to ensure equal opportunity.  The DRO works with departments throughout the university to assure that the programs and facilities are accessible to every student at NC State in a way that is fair to everyone while still maintaining academic standards.

GLBT Center — 919.513.9742

The GLBT Center collaborates with the university community to maintain and strengthen an inclusive and safe campus environment for people of all sexualities, gender identities, and gender expressions.  The center conducts frequent educational programs, individual consultations and referrals, and other community outreach both on and off campus.

University Housing — 919.515.2440

University Housing provides housing solutions for students on campus.  More than that, however, University Housing provides rich learning environments where students can be better connected with fellow students and have access to incredible mentorship through the presence of Resident Assistants, Residence Directors, Community Directors, and others.  University Housing provides a wealth of resources for students seeking to enhance their academic and personal success – including the ability for students to participate in Living and Learning Villages.

The Office of International Services (OIS) provides educational programs, advising, immigration processing, research and employment support, cross-cultural experiences, and community extension activities for students, faculty, and staff. Their programs and services enable the international student and scholar community, faculty and students, and the broader community to achieve inter-cultural success and excellence on and off campus.

The Department of Wellness and Recreation provides collegiate recreation programs, services, and facilities that inspire healthy, active lifestyles with a commitment to excellence, learning and student success.

Student Legal Services — 919.515.7091

Student Legal Services provides education, advice and representation within the scope of the prepaid legal plan established by Student Government at NC State.  The Service is aimed at helping students resolve their legal problems with as little disruption as possible to their primary educational endeavors.

Women’s Center — 919.515.2012

The NC State Women’s Center was founded in 1991 and has been providing service to the women students, faculty and staff on campus ever since.  The center encourages education, advocacy, and leadership by facilitating efforts to ensure equity and opportunity and increase awareness of diversity, strengthening relationships across diverse populations; and developing critical thinking and leadership in order to advance gender equity and social justice.
