Bio

Emily Anderson is a Nationally Certified Counselor, who joined the Prevention Services team in July 2019. In her role, she oversees QPR trainings and develops programs that promote bystander-intervention, wellness, and risk-reduction. She additionally participates in cross-campus collaborations, working with various departments to provide student support and targeted programming. Emily is an NC State graduate, having obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biological Sciences, with a minor in Psychology. She additionally holds a Master of Education ( M.Ed.) degree in Clinical Mental Health and Addictions Counseling from the College of William & Mary. Emily was previously a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) in Virginia prior to coming to NC State. She worked in direct patient care with adults and adolescents, focusing on cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-informed care. Emily’s past professional experiences are in pharmaceuticals, suicide prevention, program development, probation services, residential counseling, and mental health private practice.
